Greetings from Asia!

By Translation Monkey, published on March 24, 2011

The peace and quiet of the (currently idle) Secret Translation Facility was shattered yesterday when a well-aimed brick smashed through the single, barred window, killing two unfortunate monkeys before coming to rest on a pile of discarded manuscripts. Closer inspection revealed a letter tied around said brick, the translated contents of which I now share with you…

Hi Everyone! How’ve you been? Missing us I hope!

We’re in Busan, in South Korea, and in a few days we’ll be heading off to Fukuoka in south-west Japan. Obviously we’re not too happy with the news coming from there at the moment but, hey, we’ve been pursued by catastrophe since before we left Chile and we haven’t let it spoil the holiday so far:

- Earthquake and tsunami in Chile before we left.
- Earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand.
- Armed conflict between Thailand and Cambodia days before we crossed the frontier.
- Bombardment of South Korea by North Korea 10 days before we got here.
- Earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disaster in Japan.

At least we’re not going to Libya! …Obviously we have our suspicions that Juanelo is behind all this somehow, but in the absence of proof we can’t formally accuse him of anything. He must be feeling a little guilty, since he’s offered to arrange delivery of this letter for us.

See you in a couple of weeks!
